As the web has grown, the sheer amount of information available has grown out of proportion. Keeping up with the information you want without having to spend hours going through web pages has become a priority. RSS is one of the answers. It is an XML based format that allows for "content syndication."

Content Syndication with RSS gives a great overview of the different flavors of RSS as well as information about how those formats can be extended to new uses. The author covers overall architecture from file formats to examples of desktop readers.

This is a short but informative book to get anyone started with RSS.
