Review:

Having a library of good techniques for Photoshop is a necessity in today's market. This book by Luanne Seymour Cohen is another one of those great books to add to that library. One of the things that I immediately loved about this book was that it was printed in color, which allowed me to easily see different effects that I needed. From creating great textures like wood and marble to polishing some illustration techniques like woodcuts and colorizing clip art, this book helps you in finding the best settings and steps to enhance your photoshop skills in a variety of ways.

To be honest, when I first got this book, I was a little disappointed in that I thought that many of the techniques were just duplicates from many of the others that I had seen on the web and read in many other books. But the reality was that even though I had seen some of these effects done elsewhere, this book more times than not showed a better way to do the effect and then easily modify it for a variety of needs. One of the best things with this book is the tips and tricks that are given on each page. These little helps I found very useful as they often times were the things to help increase overall speed and productivity in working with photoshop. I have seen this done in many other photoshop books but none seemed to be as informative as the side-helps in this book.

The one thing that would have been nice with this book is to be able to get some of the artwork or images that was created for this book. Whether on cd or to be able to be downloaded would have been good. Overall I recommend this book to anybody that is wanting to further develop their photoshop skills in the beginning to intermediate range.
