Review:
Those that have been following the grassroots movement towards true web standards and validate-able sites should be more than familiar with Jeffrey Zeldman and his involvement with the W3C. For those who are not as familiar, read on.
During my daily web travels, I happened upon the CSS Zen Garden (http://www.csszengarden.com/). The concept of separating structure from presentation intrigued me, especially after noting the power with which it was being implemented in the above mentioned site. It was in following the various Zen Garden links that I stumbled upon several preview chapters of Zeldman's book (http://www.zeldman.com/dwws/).
After requesting and receiving this book, I can happily say that it deserves a place in my library. Many of my library books are boring old tomes, reference manuals for those who love perusing through line after line of code. This is not one of those books. Zeldman is a witty and humorous author who drives home a very convincing point: the need for designers and web authors to work under specific web standards.
I can't say it any better that Hakon Wium Lee, CTO of Opera Software who commented, "Zeldman clearly exposes how web design got stuck in the last century and shows you the way out. By implementing his techniques, you'll learn to design pages not just for Internet Explorer but for today's modern browsers and tomorrow's internet, as well."
