Title: Microsoft OneNote for Windows Visual Quickstart Guide
Author: Todd W. Carter
Publisher: Peachpit Press
ISBN: 0-321-22373-X
Review:

A quick read, at 176 pages, I found this book understandable, and yet still very informative. As I try to learn this newest of Microsoft Office applications, there appears to be much more under the hood than might meet the eye otherwise. The section about flags specifically, at 13 pages long, shows the read in detail and example, how to fully utilize this possibly-overlooked feature of OneNote. It is for explanations of this complete nature, which readers will get their money's worth from this guide.

I could have done without the tablet pc section, but only since I do not own one of those - and truly, this application is quite powerful and useful for users of normal desktops or laptops. What this book clearly shows, is that for the lower price ($99) and ease of use (i.e. less overhead and quicker operation), OneNote might be all that person needs, instead of Microsoft Word.

In summary, I would recommend this book for any new user of OneNote, and would feel confident that the person would be a better user of the software within 1 hour of perusing these chapters. To the more advanced user, this guide might not be able to advance their skills as much, but the tips in every chapter, as well as the large number of screen shots, would still make this guidebook a nice desktop reference. OneNote is an amazing software tool and this book is a quick and easy shortcut to becoming skilled at using that tool.
